Transition Maine

Rebuilding local resilience, one community at a time.

A network devoted to uniting the 'silos' of sustainable progress.

Tohidu News

Ning is moving to charge $200 per year for Transition sites such as this. Tohidu, our non-profit supporting transition efforts, has agreed to pay for this first pivotal year. This will provide time for Transition Maine to discuss and decide on an option for the future (e.g. creating our own free network with a open source software like ELGG, or develop an arrangement to annually pay the fee).

Transition Maine has moved to a new location: If you desire to continue your membership in the Transition Social Network, please join http://transitionus.ning.com When you join, I will greet you and direct you to the new location.

If you created a local GROUP on this site, you will need to re-create your local group using this link: http://transitionus.ning.com/groups/group/new

It is important that you do this right away. This site will be deleted any day now.

If you have already taken this step, please visit the original site and encourage your neighbors to follow your example.

TRANSITION MAINE

TRANSITION MAINE is a networking site for those interested in exploring and/or implementing the Transition model in their community. This site is being created through grassroots participation, and is continually evolving. It is a spontaneously arising effort to connect 'transitioners' with each other and to encourage and support the development of local Transition Initiatives.

The Transition approach empowers communities to squarely face the challenges of peak oil and climate change, and to unleash the collective genius of their own people to find the answers to this momentous question:

For all those aspects of life that this community needs in order to sustain itself and thrive, how are we going to:
  • drastically reduce carbon emissions (in response to climate change);
  • significantly rebuild resilience (in response to peak oil);
  • and greatly strengthen our local economy (in response to economic instability)?
